The first release from Scotland's Dark Matter Distillers is Dark Matter Spiced Rum - very exciting stuff! Created in Banchory by two brothers, Jim and John Ewen, Dark Matter Spiced Rum is a molasses-based rum that features full-bodied notes of long pepper, fresh ginger, green peppercorns and allspice.

Basically it's like drinking a liquid Christmas cake not like rum at all so it should be renamed and certainly not too my taste
Cloves! Yuk, I couldn’t taste anything else and I hate cloves. Tastes awful to me but appreciate others may like it. If they like cloves
The nose feel is very heavy cardamom/clove, even overwhelming and off putting. Then again... the taste. I really like the warm palate of the spices. As others have said, great from a flask when you don't get punched right to the nose.
It’s rather good and distinctly, obviously, spiced with real spices. My only assertion is that it’s woah, really REALLY dominated by CARDAMOM!! ...and CLOVE!! It’s clearly a pretty good underlying rum though, with very little roughness, and the sweetness is well balanced.
Surprisingly different! Flavours of cardamon, black pepper and clove are most apparent. Goes down great with ginger beer.
