The first release from Scotland's Dark Matter Distillers is Dark Matter Spiced Rum - very exciting stuff! Created in Banchory by two brothers, Jim and John Ewen, Dark Matter Spiced Rum is a molasses-based rum that features full-bodied notes of long pepper, fresh ginger, green peppercorns and allspice.

I've had this in the pub several times, and I've tried it with a couple of different mixers. It may sound odd, but i find that Irn Bru really compliments the flavour, whereas coke fights with the flavour. Even neat, it still has a delightful taste.
This Rum smells and tastes like Christmas. It is a very Bristsh Rum, lacking the ingredients that would give it more of a traditional taste. I wanted to love this, given that it is the first Rum from Scotland but I just don't. I will drink the bottle, be rude not too. I wouldn't buy it again though, it is just too over powering rum is a light summery drink. Even kracken or other dark rums can be lightened with the right mixer. This Rum is basically like drinking Christmas syrup and isn't helped by mixers.
I just found this in a pub in Edinburgh. I'm a big rum fan and I think this is my new favourite. I didn't find lime complimentary to the flavour but on its own with cola it was awesome. It reminded me of the fireball gobstoppers you used to get as a kid. Bit spicy and a hint of aniseed.
This was bought for me as a leaving present, I finally opened it yesterday to taste and my god it was good! It's quite ginger heavy in taste which I like, it tastes a lot like Christmass as well with the pepper and allspice notes in it. This is now tied as my favourite rum, Tied with Woods Navy Rum. For those who hated it, I will gladly relieve you of those bottles
This is Christmas in a bottle, I absolutely love it. A spiced rum to be sipped slowly and enjoyed by a roaring fire. It is so rich and complex you only want a couple at a time. Been a rum drinker for 63 years from my first 25 year old Appleton's on the Appleton Estate in Jamaica, (divine) in the 1960's and this is definitely one of the highlights. If the Dog s*** reviewer wishes to send me his bottle I'll happily relieve him of it..
