Created in Banchory by two brothers, Jim and John Ewen, Dark Matter Spiced Rum is a molasses-based rum that features full-bodied notes of long pepper, fresh ginger, green peppercorns and allspice.

This must have chilli in it
This is tough to drink. It's got a spicy heat to it. It's a bit like a curry. I want to like it, but it's just wrong. I'll be giving this to guests I don't like.

Delicious liquid Lebkuchen
This rum is not for the faint hearted, this isn't a sickly sweet rum, but one that bites back. I like it neat or mixed with a hot chocolate, where it becomes a sublime drink, taking on the festive flavours of Lebkuchen.

Spiced rum that isn’t cloyingly sweet
A refreshing change from the over-sweet majority of spiced rums. It’s initially powerfully ginger and the aftertaste is of pepper. It’s a shock, but a good one. Despite other reviewers mentioning ‘cloves’, there’s none in there, as far as I know. It’s probably the Allspice that they’re tasting. If you like spiced rum that isn’t cloyingly sweet, then this is definitely worth trying

Not sweet too much clove
Heavy on the cloves. Very strong taste and a winter warmer. Nothing sweet about it. Might be alright for Christmas occasions but not something I like.
