El Ron Prohibido, is a Mexican rum which is made of a blend of rums of different ages, blended with used raisin wine barrels - an intriguing choice that pays off with distinctive bitter-sweet notes and a thick, luxurious mouth feel. Very stylish in its presentation, too.
Crushed walnuts, brown sugar and waves of vanilla. Following that, you'll start to get plenty of raisin and prune notes.
Viscous and mouth-coating. Honey, dark chocolate and more raisins. Black coffee, nutmeg and oak.
Strong coffee notes remain.
Enjoy it neat to get the most out of this distinctly rich rum.
Tastes like corked wine, I really don't get this stuff, but it could be down to personal taste.
I ordered this as I know I love this rum... the two bottles tasted more like tequila than rum. I feel like the recipe has changed and not in a good way.
Brought back a bottle from the Cancun airport duty free shop several years ago. It is an excellent rum.
This was the last time i let myself be roped in by a cool bottle design. Love rum but this was rough, some raisin fruits with hard cheap alcohol and then after taste was formaldehyde. Tried again but gave up and used remains of bottle to clean old rusty tools off.
Incredibly rich with lovely tropical flavors. I give 5 stars as it is not too sweet to be a sipping rum. That said it's a great recommendation considering the good price point.
