El Ron Prohibido, is a Mexican rum which is made of a blend of rums of different ages, blended with used raisin wine barrels - an intriguing choice that pays off with distinctive bitter-sweet notes and a thick, luxurious mouth feel. Very stylish in its presentation, too.
Crushed walnuts, brown sugar and waves of vanilla. Following that, you'll start to get plenty of raisin and prune notes.
Viscous and mouth-coating. Honey, dark chocolate and more raisins. Black coffee, nutmeg and oak.
Strong coffee notes remain.
Enjoy it neat to get the most out of this distinctly rich rum.

Had the prohibido ... not the habanero. Delicious.
I have one bottle of this one. Honestly this Ron is maybe the worst one I have ever tried. It may vary a lot between bottles since I have met people who enjoyed it, but my bottle will not be finished. The nose is very aggressive, full full full of alcohol, very acid, and just nothing else...
The worst rum in the world
I had tasted this rum in my training session. The taste is slightly bitter & sweet, good to drink straight.
Tried this at recent Drambuster's whisky festival (there were some other spirits on display too). Immediately I made the decision to purchase a bottle, but ended up not ordering one on the day. Temptation only lasted until I went into the TB Watson Drambuster store as needed rum to share over festive season and seen it on the shelves. I was looking at others I hadn't tried but could;t resist. Good with coke or ginger beer, but coke probably brings the flavours out best. Agree though that it must also be sampled on its own, and is very drinkable without a mixer. Black coffee, walnuts, raisins and prunes are in abundance here. Love it.
