Botafogo Spiced Rum

A spied rum built around spirits from Trinidad and Tobago, alongside various spices (though the producers are staying rather secretive as to what spices there are). This expression took home a Master medal from The Rum and Cachaça Masters 2017.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Sweet confectionary sugar, chocolate orange and plenty of baking spice.

The best spiced rum ever !
Its sweet - like rum. Has a Perfect strong taste and smell of vanilla , cinamon and other spices (Orange peel also ?). That i truly love. Taste it with ice - really a pleasure of drinking.

Love it
My absolute favourite. Serve it over lots of ice, a slice of orange & with a good quality ginger ale (fever tree is the best I've found so far). Really refreshing 😃

Its Ideal for a Sunday afternoon . The liquid is more redolent of Orange & Vanilla than other spices.

Too sweet, too sickly and a nasty aftertaste.
Very disappointed with this one. Considering it won a Masters Medal last year I was expecting this to become a stock rum for my collection. It's too sickly and leaves an aftertaste that reminds me of cheap diet sodas. Not sure why that would be but I've tried it as a mixer and neat and neither was enjoyable. Next time I'm forced to share a rum with someone I know doesn't appreciate a good rum i'm definitely giving them one of these. Definitely in my bottom 5 spiced rums i'm afraid.

My first spiced rum.
Getting a lot of orange peel cloves and vanilla, but more like vanilla essense than anything else. Very sweet, good for toddies and mixing. It's my first spiced rum so. Not sure what to expect, the taste is a bit fussy and in your face for my liking, but it's not offensive for such a cheap rum. Not really a sipper.
