Three Tides is built around aged Dominican Republic and High Ester Jamaican funk, and features some rather intriguing ingredients alongside it, like scorched gorse, wild elderflower and oats! Not what you usually expect from a spiced rum, but the result is marvellous indeed, with fragrant smoke and dark chocolate bitterness offering tasty juxtaposition to the vibrant rum.
Burnt brown sugar, banana fritters, cacao, wisps of smoke developing later on - not quite peaty smoke, though slightly earthy at points.
I don’t understand how this ever passed any quality assurance tests. It’s pretty rotten. Just flick your cigarette ash in some vodka and then chuck the butts in too when you finish et voila. Same effect but half the price. If I paid for this in a pub I would be absolutely raging. I smoke as well . . . . . .

This gorgeous rum is beautifully smoky and deep and smooth. Really distinctive and balanced with a lovely silky smooth mouth feel, leaving a lingering, almost peaty tendril of smoky aromatics on the palate.
Completely delicious! Smooth, intriguing and with a silky mouth-feel. It’s neither too sweet or too smoky, balanced between the two, perfect to drink neat (though I’d tried it in cocktails first). Truly unique - one to savour.
