This St Lucian rum is matured in ex-bourbon casks, and is famed for its smoothness. The rum is named after
Georges Brydges Rodney, a British naval officer, famous for his tactical acumen, who fought against the French in the 18th Century.
Nose: Heavy, brown sugar sweetness with molasses in there too. Lots of burnt caramel and a hint of white pepper.
Palate: Smooth and soft. There is pepper and spice here but it's nicely ensconced in the flowing toffee and caramel.
Finish: Vanilla and cloves floating over the caramel with a pleasant oaky dry note.
Overall: A beautiful sipping rum, soft, rounded and wonderfully easy to drink.

Bought a bottle of this for my best man at my wedding in St Lucia, he's drunk rum for 34 years , many different brands , He said this was the best rum he has ever tasted , so good he took some home from the island , I like spiced rum but I would easily sip this on a cold night ..

I too bought this in St Lucia, simply because the presentation was nice and I'd not encountered it before, only tried it after returning to the UK, Wow! Sumptuous stuff, absolutely wonderful, I am a committed malt whisky fan but this is up there with the very best, I thoroughly recommend Admiral Rodney

Like the other reviewer, I bought this whilst in country on advice from a local. It's excellent sipping rum. Sweet and textured up front with an incredibly smooth finish.
