Madalena is a quinta (estate) that belongs to Smith Woodhouse. In a year like 2013 that's not quite good enough for a 'proper' vintage Port, the company will release a wine such as this that comes from a single estate. This is a lighter, fragrant take on Port that would appeal to those who find traditional Port a bit much. It's also perfect to drink now. No need to wait - though it's worth decanting before serving.
Floral perfumed nose with fresh cassis fruit. Fresh and ripe on the palate with crunchy tannins and notes of dark spice and chocolate.
