Ireland

This Glendalough Poitin is made using malted barley and sugar beet, and interestingly is allowed to mature in oak casks! Even more interestingly, the Irish distillers have treatedthis particular Poitin to a Sherry cask finish - you don't see that very often!
Orange peels and and vanilla, soon followed by red-wine-like sweetness coming through. Very intrigue.
Quite spicy, with a touch of toasted oak. Juicy fruits.
Touches of sweet, sticky Sherry last.

Nice rounded flavour. Very easy on the palate. First Poitin I've tried and certainly not a disappointment.
Not what I expected. Thought it would be rough and burn your mouth away. Not at all. Quite a buttery nose to it. Very smooth and no burn on the palate. Deep loganberry finish and quite dry. Not an all night drinker but enjoyable diversion.
I was expecting this Irish moonshine to blow my head off However, the sherry finish is smooth, distinctive and very quaff-able.
I love this. Sweet, smooth and very drinkable neat or on ice.
