Ballykeefe Distillery
A well-crafted poitín from the Ballykeefe distillery in County Kilkenny. Ballykeefe make spirits with eco-friendly actions at the core of its production methods, including using heat from cooling system in the distillery's visitor centre and employee areas, feeding leftovers from distillation to the farms livestock and more. Always wonderful to hear about that kind of stuff, especially when the spirits producers are also delicious!
Earthy pepper and walnut, apple crisps and digestive biscuits.
I tried this for the first time today. It is a lovely alternative to gin and was particularly good served with Fevertree Mediterranean tonic. It has a wonderful earthy, almost peaty, quality which one expects from whiskey but is quite surprising in a white spirit. It's wonderfully clean and smooth, highly recommended.
