Mezcal Ancestral from Código 1530 is part of the brand's first forays away from Tequila and into the mezcal category. This exquisite, joven ancestral mezcal, made with 100% papalome maguey from Oaxaca, is a wonderful chance to appreciate the profile of a single varietal. Produced in partnership with a network of mezcaleros from a single village in San Juan del Rio, the agave here has been cooked in earthen fire pits and the juice extracted by hand with mallets, before being fermented in animal hides, and distilled in a traditional clay pot still. This is certainly one for the true mezcal aficionados out there to sip and savour.
