Amaro Montenegro Bottling Note

A classic Italian liqueur made with a wide (though secret) selection of herbs and spices, Amaro Montenegro is bittersweet and makes for a fantastic after-dinner tipple. Originally created in 1885, it was named after the second Queen of Italy, Elena of Montenegro.

Io amo il chinotto e mi sembra un chinotto alcolico ….

Like amaretto but totally different
Think of a bitter herby, slightly smoky amaretto.

I had this on the rocks and it was fab but I am loving the sound of it and orange juice.

The best Amaro!
Have tried a number of Amaros but keep returning to Montenegro which has an excellent alcohol balance, unlike a lot of others which are stronger alcoholically.

Classic bitter Italian amaro
Classic Italian bitter, I prefer these straight and in a shot glass.
Really dry finish and complex flavours.

A super cocktail ingredient
This is a special Amaro, spicey rather than bitter. Excels in the Adriatique
30ml Amaro Montenegro
15ml Aperol
30ml Orange Juice
Shake with ice & fine strain. Fits a Nick & Nora but also double the volumes for a longer drink, only wine strength.

2 very tasty and refreshing drinks
This is a very tasty and pleasant evening sip.
I am a member of "Individual Restaurants" in Manchester and about 18 months ago, the manager of the Bar at Piccolino Manchester, on a pleasant evening discussing a new book of menus.
He had put together a short menu of new additions to the "Cocktails" menu.
2 were promptly put together : 1st - Amaro Montenegro over ice and Ginger Beer + a slice of Lime, 2nd - Amaro Montenegro over ice and Cranberry + a slice of Lime.
I love Ginger Beer, my wife loves Cranberry and we have been regularly drinking the 2 ever since.
This is why I have been regularly buying the Amaro Montenegro from you ever since.

Zesty orange bitter goodness
Having been previously put off amaro by some in-your-face aggressively bitter options, trying this was a wonderful reintroduction. There is a bitterness that lurks in the background but it's more than balanced by the delicious zesty orange flavours present here.

An excellent addition to the spirit cabinet, and pairs wonderfully with pretty much every spirit. Swap out for cointreau or curacao and you're good to go! Well-balanced mai tais here we come!
