Based on a recipe create by Marcello Soldatini (grandfather to current Distilleria Gualco deedholder Georgio Soldatini), this Amaro features a menagerie of herbs, spiced and fruits, including Ligurian-grown basil and Chinotto di Savona oranges.
Enjoyably bitter hints of cinchona and spicy cardamom. Sweetness of juicy orange adds balance and character.

Although this clearly belongs in the same category as Averna, Amaro Montenegro, etc., this amaro is distinct -- less forceful herbal bitterness (but enough to do the trick), and more caramelised sugar, vanilla, and chinatto/cola flavour. Lovely stuff.
