Bombo Rum Liqueur - Caramel & Coconut Reviews

Fabulous

Fabulous on its own, just as good with coke and then pour it over a waffle with banana and clotted cream ice cream 😍

To Sickly Sweet.

I thought this flavoured rum was going to be ideal for me, as I have a very sweet tooth . But unfortunately there is one ginormous problem with this. The caramel totally overpowers the coconut, so what you are left with, is a rum that is sickly sweet, rather than being pleasantly sweet, even for my tastebuds. Now if it was the other way around, and the flavours where predominantly coconut with just a hint of caramel, then this would be perfection in a bottle. The other thing I must comment on about this rum, is it’s texture. It’s so thick, it feels like you’re drinking syrup! So for me, it just feels like it’s to heavy to stomach. I prefer a light, refreshing rum, that leaves me wanting more. Not a rum that makes me feel bloated after a double measure. I’ll finish by saying this. If you are going to give this rum a try, do not use a mixer, as one is not required. Just pour a big measure into an already chilled tumbler, add one big chunk of ice and take your time sipping it.

Sweet Syrupy and alcoholic...

I have been buying this rum for about 3 years, I usually get a bottle each year at the BBC Good Food Show. It does have a syrupy texture but it’s really nice, you can drink it neat as a liquor or I drink it with coke and it makes a tasty long drink. I like sweet drinks and it’s a change from Malibu! If you like coconut rum and sweet drinks you will love this...
