Laphroaig 15 Year Old

Laphroaig has been making whisky at the edge of Loch Laphroaig since 1815, and very little about the method has softened since. Barley dried over Islay peat cut from the distillery's own moss, water off the Kilbride, and a distillation regime that produces one of the most uncompromising spirits in Scotland.

Fifteen years in American oak barrels is what happens next. Time in ex-bourbon wood doesn't smooth Laphroaig's edges so much as widen it out, letting the vanilla and soft sweetness of the oak sit alongside the smoke rather than underneath it. The result is still recognisably, unmistakably Laphroaig.

Bottled at 46% ABV, non-chill filtered and at natural colour, so nothing has been stripped out on the way to the bottle.
