Twisted Nose Gin Bottling Note

Twisted Nose Gin comes from the picturesque city of Winchester in Hampshire. It is made in very small batches in traditional copper stills. The botanical selection includes juniper, grapefruit zest, cassia bark, fennel seed, orris, angelica, lavender and, most notably, locally-grown watercress. The humble watercress offers a delicate sweetness and peppery sparkle to this wonderful London Dry gin. The name comes from the word the Romans used for watercress, "Nasturtium", which means twisted nose.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Excitingly spicy with bright peppery notes, balanced by the sweet herbs.

Palate: Crisp grapefruit comes through clean, adorned by the lively fennel and subtle floral hints. Bold pepper appears further on.

Finish: Rather long and full, with citrus lasting until the end.

Overall: An excellent craft London dry, distinctive and full of flavour.

Twisted Nose Watercress Dry Gin Reviews

Taste the difference.

A splendidly different taste to the mass produced gins available and worth paying the extra for it.

Smooth and peppery

Lovely smooth gin with a peppery finish. Watercress taste is pretty subtle but still gives the gin something different. Would definitely recommend if you prefer a peppery savoury gin to a sweeter gin.

28th November 2020

Refreshing with lovely undertones

A delightful taste and a great-looking bottle. Very fresh tasting and refined, would recommend.

Sophisticated, unique - worth every penny!!

Ok, so I'm biased - I grew up in the village where this special gin is made (surrounded by the watercress beds). This gin's special 'twist' of watercress and lavender gives a truly unique and sophisticated taste, peppery, balanced and absolutely delicious. No need to tart it up with silly tonics - this is the real deal and worth every penny! PS - I now live in Belgium and have Belgian friends who adore this Gin, beats all the best Gins from here and many more commercial popular choices.

One of my new favourites.

This, along with Gin Mare, is one of my favourite gins. I get a new gin every birthday and the name and bottle appealed. Probably not the best way to chose a gin but hey it works for me. It has a warmth to it and is not too sweet. Citrusy and fresh. It won’t appeal to everyone as some else has pointed out - it would be a boring world if we all had the same taste! If you love citrusy gins like Gin Mare try this one.

Our new favourite gin

We love this - bottle and the gin inside. To be honest we find it quite hard to differentiate between some gins on the market - especially when mixed. What we love about this is we were able to pick it out and recognise on a few recent tastings we did. The watercress gives it that warmth as other people have said it is a more savoury gin - not sweet like some. Love it with Artisan Drinks Pink citrus tonic or a plain tonic water. I also agree with another reviewer who said if you like Gin Mare you'll like this - I also love Gin Mare - but this is better. And the MOM price is amazing. Christmas shopping now underway!

Faultless for me!

Surprised at the negative reviews here without people recognising that people inherently like different stuff (floral v citrus etc). All those criticising this gin (and even the bottle, which is just laughable) are devoid of taste. I was bought this as a gift and I love it. Light and refreshing, definitely a bit of citrus and I think someone mentioned fennel which I agree with. I have mine with a wedge and lime, and basic fully fat Schweppes. I will be buying my next bottle imminently.

Not for me

Disgusting. Tasted slimy and smelt like gone off veg.

28th September 2020

Just lovely

Put on my birthday list on a whim but I'm so glad I did. It's deliciously refreshing - not sure I can pick out the watercress but the fennel is there in a lovely soft way rather than smacking you round the face, which I much prefer. Will most definitely buy another bottle.

Something a little different, but not gimmicky

The watercress hint adds a lovely finish to this smooth gin.

Awful gin

Love the watercress undertones

Really enjoyable, will definitely buy again and recommend. Thank you

A brilliant gin that I always come back to

I love my gin and I'm always out on the lookout for new flavours wherever I travel, both within the UK and abroad.
But I always come back to this favourite. I am not a fan of flowery and sweet gins and this is neither of that. It's got a spicy kick to it with a great aftertaste of watercress. Serve it with a slice of grapefruit.
I agree that the new bottle looks very similar to Harris gin and I actually liked the simplicity of the old bottle. But the content is the same so that's hardly important.

Mmm think I’ve seen this bottle before ........ with a better drink in it

17th June 2020

Personally I found it too sweet and tasted like lavender.

4th June 2020

Worth a try if you are looking for something different.

A subtle, dry flavour, the gin goes well with plain or subtle mixers, but can be overcome easily with other flavours. Worth the investment if you are wanting to try something different, as I did.

Imitation is the sincerest flattery.

I think the Harris Distillery would probably like their design back when 'Twisted Nose' have finished with it. It's very unlikely indeed that the contents bear comparison.

13th May 2020

Nice and savoury.

Very nice savoury gin at a good price. Definitely worth a go.

30th April 2020

Stunning gin (and bottle)

A Chance find and now a firm favourite.

8th March 2020

Horrible taste and smell.

Being a lover of gin, I was excited to receive this for Christmas. However, the smell and taste was so bad, I had to check the label to make sure It wasn’t a tacky 1970’s cologne! I battled on through a couple more glasses, but was defeated. It’s disgusting. Best thing about it is the bottle.

17th January 2020

Wonderful savoury gin which makes a great G&T.

This is a savoury gin, so if you prefer large flowery flavours or very fruity gin this probably won't be for you.

The watercress gives a wonderful peppery hint to this; it makes a lovely G&T with 'normal' Fevertree tonic. If you like Gin Mare, give this a try.

Superb...tried in a community run pub in Cwm Du (Wales) called the Farmers Arms. Very popular there!

25th June 2018

absolute back-bar staple.

Love this...

My sister lives in Hampshire and bought me a bottle of this Gin to take home, needless to say it didn't reach home as its such a wonderful refreshing Gin. I just wish it was stocked locally here in Bedfordshire, I just have to visit my sister much more often.....

Refreshing new tasting gin

Enjoyed a couple of glasses at The Wine Cellar in Lymington this weekend. Great tasting gin and definitely worth searching out both the gin and the wine cellar.
