While the original Whitley Neill Gin is inspired by the exotic flavours of Africa, their Rhubarb & Ginger Gin variation takes inspiration from closer to the Whitley family's homestead.
Enjoyably fruity on the nose, with rhubarb preserve and baked apple. Hints of leafy herbs grow in the background.
Orange, ginger and coriander arrive on the palate, though it's still dominated by rhubarb. A core of earthy juniper builds.
A tangy touch of tartness appears later on, balanced by black pepper and gingerbread.
This is absolutely stunning, highly recommend. Slight ginger hint not over powering.
I bought this having tried Edinburgh rhubarb gin - which I loved. This is really vile and I wondered what I could put with it to make it taste OK?? I tried tonic and it just tastes plain weird. I have a large gin collection and I doubt I will use this again!!
This seems to be a Marmite item, some hate it and others love it. I wasn't expecting to like it, but I did. Quite sweet with a firey finish, good on its own but not the best with tonic.
Soapy? I suggest you wash your glass out. There is no hint of soap and it is not (ignoring the ridiculous grammar) "terrible undrinkable...".('genuine review' by someone who doesn't speak English perhaps? They certainly have no idea how English is structured). The ginger is quite strong but this is the best flavoured gin I have tasted. It does say rhubarb and ginger - you can't complain you don't like the taste after you have been told what it tastes of!!! What is wrong with people? (I do agree that there should be more of a rhubarb taste).
Terrible undrinkable and waste of money took away when we went with family nobody liked it, not like Edinburgh Rhubarb and Ginger
