While the original Whitley Neill Gin is inspired by the exotic flavours of Africa, their Rhubarb & Ginger Gin variation takes inspiration from closer to the Whitley family's homestead.
Enjoyably fruity on the nose, with rhubarb preserve and baked apple. Hints of leafy herbs grow in the background.
Orange, ginger and coriander arrive on the palate, though it's still dominated by rhubarb. A core of earthy juniper builds.
A tangy touch of tartness appears later on, balanced by black pepper and gingerbread.

On a Thomas Cook flight from Tenerife to Gatwick we were given a choice of drinks. As we both like Rhubarb we gave this Gin a try. Boy are we glad we did , it’s SO TASTY! So on our onward journey to Utah, via Las Vegas we purchased a bottle. SO, New Years Eve we opened it & to our surprise our friends really enjoyed it. There is a little drop left & once back in Blighty on our way back to Tenerife we will most definitely purchase a bottle (or three) to enjoy of an evening & remember our New Year in Utah.
I was given this for Christmas and couldn't wait to try it. I have made my own rhubarb gin in the past with REAL rhubarb... sadly Whitley Neill's gin has been nowhere near a stick of rhubarb and it shows! There's an under taste of something chemical and perfumed, it leaves a weird after taste in your mouth that is very unpleasant. Neither my husband or myself could get any ginger flavour either. I will be giving this away and going back to making my own!
Fantastic gorgeous gin
It's a cheap product, chemically and artificially flavoured and sweetened, it's designed for people who think they should be drinking gin but don't like Juniper. A Gn'T with this is an alco-pop for the "fur coat no knickers" brigade. Nice bottle though.
Gorgeous - lovely with elderflower tonic or lemonade ?
