While the original Whitley Neill Gin is inspired by the exotic flavours of Africa, their Rhubarb & Ginger Gin variation takes inspiration from closer to the Whitley family's homestead.
Enjoyably fruity on the nose, with rhubarb preserve and baked apple. Hints of leafy herbs grow in the background.
Orange, ginger and coriander arrive on the palate, though it's still dominated by rhubarb. A core of earthy juniper builds.
A tangy touch of tartness appears later on, balanced by black pepper and gingerbread.
Not keen as it tastes artificial! Have they used artificial sweetener? Shame as I normally love rhubarb and ginger!

This gin was not what I expected i had a single with lemonade and it is Sweet like eating sweets but I love it I would buy it again. If you don’t want the gin to taste like sweets I would recommend having a double measure changes the drink completely.
The thought of ginger and rhubarb in late Spring was delightful. Unfortunately, that thought was very short-lived. Far too sweet and has an artificial flavouring that no amount of citrus and bitters can fix.
Really not to my taste, sad that there's no taste of rhubarb or ginger and it's very sweet. If you like your drinks to taste exactly like "refreshers" sweets go for it, otherwise don't!
