Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Juniper and violet harmoniously blend in the fore, while orange oil freshness cuts through. Cardamom and cubeb heat simmers in the background.

Whitley Neill Parma Violet Gin Reviews

A bit too much...

I really like Violet creams but, of all the flavoured gins from Whiteley Neill, this is the one that I found simply too much. Whereas I find some quite sweet (and this is certainly sweet), I found the taste of violets overpowering, and just weird with tonic and lemon.

Not gin really

This gin is very sweet and, although not unpleasant, it is debatable whether it ought to be labelled gin. I made a martini and the violet taste is a little intriguing, but the sweetness makes it impossible.

It might just me not knowing goodness

I received a bottle as a present for my birthday, having been a gin drinker for a few years now I thought Ide give it a go , poured a double with fever tree and ice , smells nice nothing out of the ordinary, on tasting,,, first swill was a gin presence, then came the swallow, all I could describe it as a flavoured Turpentine , it’s a strange taste , more like a counterfeit flavoured moon shine , likes it’s been made in a shed with a candle taste , it’s like drinking gin from a glass that’s had turps in .

Smooth and subtle

Very pleasant, not sweet; with a subtle violet aftertaste. Pleasing with lemonade! Not enough violet in my opinion but lovely.

Amazing proper Parma violet gin not liquor

A beautiful Parma violet gin. This is the best one I have tasted as others are gin liquors which are far too sweet. Thus however is not and has that beautiful smell too aswell as the best taste. If you wanted it sweet serve with lemonade. I love mine with slimline tonic.

Fantastic

Not a lover of Parma Violets but this Gin mixed with Ginger Ale is one of the best drinks I've ever tasted, tall glass, crushed ice and fill it up - delicious

EXCELLENT CHOICE

My wife picked up a bottle of this for me recently - not going to lie, I wasn't too sure about how it would taste, especially after reading some of the reviews on here! Am pleased to say I was proven wrong - this is a fantastic tasting Gin, especially with Lemon Tonic Water over ice - try it, you will not be disappointed, give it a go and see for yourself!

Disgusting

Disgusting. Threw it down the sink. Couldn’t even be redeemed by a fevertree tonic. I love dry London Gin and other gins eg Cotswold which is quite floral but this was vile.

An incredible recreation

If you like the classic confectionary that is the Palma Violet, then this Gin is a must have. Unlike most gins this works well with lemonade, giving it the fizz that the original sweet has.
