Thomas Dakin Manchester

Made with eleven botanicals including juniper, orange peel, English coriander, angelica, cubeb pepper and liquorice as well as "a hint of red cole" aka horseradish! It's named after Thomas Dakin, who began producing gin in Warrington in the second half of the 18th century, founding what would later become Greenall's. He was a pioneer who made gin of a surprising quality for the day, and who is rightly celebrated.

Reviews for Thomas Dakin Manchester Gin
Distinctive
I can see why this gin doesn't appeal to everyone, but I love it. I always tell people that it tastes like the smell of a National Trust property attic: slightly dusty, with plaster and leather. Or like the inside of an old wooden wardrobe in a Victorian house.

The best true Gin, I actually drink it now.
Fantastic, a "real" Gin in the traditional style but better!
A fresher, nicer, perhaps stronger version of the typical gins we have known for a long time.
I have tried many of the new gins, many are cloyingly sweet or don't taste like "gin"...
This is the one I keep going back to.

I had ‘miniature’ can’t wait to buy a bottle
I’ve just had my first g & t made with Thomas Dakin Manchester Gin. It was a ‘miniature’, one of three, which included Sipsmith’s and Martin Millers. Having never heard of Thomas Dakin, I drank the two known brands first! Wow, what a distinctive flavour! I’ve never tasted anything quite like it it’s fabulous! Love the zest of orange taste! Different, might not suit some people’s palate but I loved it!

Canada says Yes Please
Brought this home to Canada from the UK as our craft gin is not a thing yet like it is in UK. We brought a few home.

I love this one especially. It is so smooth, the opposite of perfumey,. It is delicious, and like some other reviewers wrote it make a superb G&T.

Ignore the poor reviews.
This is a classy gin. Bone dry and musky, it is so much better than the some of its parts, some of which sound frankly weird. If your prefer Lebkuchen to cup cakes, Givenchy to Lynx, then drink this gin.......the rest of you stick to alcopops .

Awful!
Whoever thought that horseradish was a good idea, needs their head looking at! I like to try new gin's, but I had to pour the contents of my glass, down the sink, which is something that I never do!!

Quite complex yet smooth & elegant.
I had been dying to get my hands on this gin but had always ended up with a different one instead. This time it was bought for me so I decided to try it with a pair of Fever Tree tonics: Aromatic and Mediterranean. I found this gin came alive with the Aromatic tonic.
To all who gave this gin a low rating I would sincerely recommend that you have fun trying it with different tonics and find your own favourite serve.

I enjoy trying new gins and typically look for a classic style gin. I don't understand the trend of fruit flavoured gins. Reading the back of the bottle, I thought this gin would be a flavour I'd like. Sadly no. It tastes as though mouldy products have been added in the process or that it's just gone mouldy and the company still decided to sell it as an acquired taste.

I'll stick to Gin Mare or Tanquerey.

I'll give this gin a 1 star rating because it smells better than it tastes.
