An Irish gin from made with juniper, angelica, orris, caraway, coriander, meadowsweet, cardamom and star anise as well as vapour infused oriental lemon and lime, fresh grapefruit and gunpowder tea! It's produced at The Shed Distillery, who are also making their own Irish pot still and single malt whiskeys.
Bright citrus and green tea notes are complemented by the spices.
Pure magic. You can drink it neat, it's that good. It deserves a special tonic if you go that route.
Excellent taste so fine, almost to good to mix. The tast is so good on it's own.
Delicious. Drank it in the George V hotel in Paris today for first time. The most delicious gin I can remember. Bravo.
Here in the 5 star Ashford Castle Hotel and just had this wonderful gin served with fresh red grapefruit. This gin is absolutely fantastic. Delicious with a long finish.
I'm writing this as I'm enjoying my second gin & tonic at an Irish pub called Bantry Bay in L.I.C., N.Y. and it's really an eye opener! Normally I'm satisfied with Beefeater or Tanqueray, but the bartender suggested I try the Gunpowder gin because she had a relative who recently brought a bottle back from Ireland and I was pleasantly surprised at its complexity. At first I thought she had given me ginger ale instead of tonic because it had a subtle sweetness (not overpowering, but enhancing). Nope, all the flavor came from the gin itself, not the tonic as evidenced by a sample of it straight which I tried immediately after the first drink mixed with regular tonic. I'm not really a martini drinker, but I'm interested to see how it pairs with vermouth, (not now, but on my next episode of brain cell destruction)! Anyway, I would reccomend any lover of gin to try this, it might not be to everyone's taste, but like the Lotto slogan says: "Hey, you never know!"
