For this zazzy bottle, The Pembrokeshire Gin Co. decided to focus its Tenby Dry Gin on two core botanicals, citrus peels and Welsh rosemary. You'll find a quartet of peels in here, so you've got sweet, bitter and zingy citrus sitting alongside the herbaceous notes of gentle spices. Grab the tonic and a sprig of fresh rosemary and you're set!
Orange sweetness and a good core of juniper, with bittersweet grapefruit, cardamom and lemon sherbet alongside lingering herbaceous rosemary.
When I first tasted this I didn't think it was gin, very powerful herby rosemary taste lingered, it needs quite a bit of watering down with a mixer, but be careful because there could be a flavour clash. Also, its very pricey for only a 50cl bottle ! I believe it is made by In The Welsh Wind Distillery for a shop in Tenby, so its a nice local seaside offer and a very different type of gin.
I can see why this gin has won so many awards, it's absolutely delicious! My favourite by far and I will definitely be purchasing again. The clever blend of botanicals mean whatever you pair it with brings out different notes, my favourite is definitely with light tonic, as it gives it a mouthwatering savoury taste with the rosemary coming through, though when paired with a blood orange soda it transforms into a lightly sweet drink with the grapefruit balance making it crisp and delicious.
I can definitely see why this gin was named best in Wales 2020! The Rosemary and the citrus compliment each other perfectly! Perfect neat over ice, and super smooth too!
