Sheep's Eye Gin Bottling Note

Only fans of Guys and Dolls will understand why a company called The Lickerish Tooth would produce a gin called Sheep's Eye, but we do rather like this quirky creation. The plague doctors over at the Licker Mill use 10 botanicals including juniper, celery seed, black pepper and thyme, infusing them in spirit before redistilling. For a gin and tonic, they suggest a lime wedge garnish.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Quite sweet and floral - they have a hibiscus vodka, is there some in here? - working well with the juniper.

Palate: More juniper (this is a proper gin), citrus, cinnamon and honey, with cracked black pepper developing.

Finish: Crisp and refreshing with some peppery warmth lingering.

Sheep's Eye Gin Reviews

I really can't decide which botanical gives this an animal taste, most unpleasant. I can't agree that it is a 'proper gin'.

Smooth and refreshing!

Bought this in Grosmont village shop because it’s a local gin. It has a definite licorice taste which is delicious! Probably one of my top 3!!!

Suprisngly disappointed

Suprisngly disappointed.

I wouldn't say it was horrible in taste but previous reviews and tasting notes led me to buy, what I believed to be a very junipery gin.
Juniper is hidden by a liquorice taste which is not suggested above.
If you are looking for a junipery gin this is not your gin .
Very unique in tasting, but liquorice definitely masks all other botanicals.

Worth a try

Don't let the funky bottle make you think this is a gimmicky gin. It's absolutely delicious and clean tasting, certainly in my top 10. That's out of over 130 I've tried.

Excellent taste, refreshing and clean.

Love this! Tried it on a gin platter at Rusty SHears in Whitby. He told me where to get a bottle and we drove straight over. wish we had bought more as we shared it with friends and it was soon gone within the week! We shall be going back for more very soon.

I was drawn to the bottle

Bought my first bottle whilst on holiday in Whitby. The lady in the shop was very knowledgable and sold it to me. The bottle and charm was what drew my attention.Just had the first drink and I'm very impressed, lovely flavour, different to other gins, I might share it with a very close friend!

Excellent gin!

I absolutely adore this gin.

I was a bit reluctant at first as its a very new gin and I wasn't sure but it was well worth it. I've had two bottles now and I can't wait to try their new one "ginger ninja" that they've got on the website.

It's a lovely taste, heavy on the juniper, with hints of celery, black pepper and thyme coming through. It has a long juniper finish and goes really well with tonic. Really glad to have found this little gem.

Brilliant product

I just bought this after a friend recommended it. Such an easy to drink gin. The flavour is lovely and it went really well in the negroni's we had on cocktail night! Definitely recommend this to others and will be ordering again. 5 stars!

I love this gin!

Bought this as it looked unusual. Never heard of it before so bit of a risk but worth it. Lovely gin. Not as junipery as some other brands, but still strong in flavour with some other nice and different flavours coming through.

Strange and interesting

I really enjoyed this gin, the design of the bottle and the effort gone in to making it really stood out. The wax and stamp was a nice touch.

The gin was strong tasting, with some sweetness that was a refreshing difference to some other gins. Would definitely have again.
