Icewine Old Tom TBGC

An Old Tom that's been sweetened with delicious Canadian icewine rather than sugar! Icewine really is one of the best things. It's made with grapes that are frozen on the vine and then pressed whilst still frozen - this leaves the water behind as ice whilst a rich, sweet juice is collected to produce this awesome decadent dessert wine.

Here That Boutique-y Gin Company have combined icewine with a quality pot still gin made with botanicals such as juniper, lemon and lime peels, and liquorice. Like any great Old Tom, it still works a mean Tom Collins too!

Batch 1 is a release of 275 bottles.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Instantly rich and unlike other sweetened gins. The juniper is still there with lemon zest and curd alongside honeysuckle, tinned peaches and treacle tart.

Palate Thick, honeyed and rich with hints of lime. Huge and decadent.

Finish Long with notes of lychee and marmalade.

Powerfull stuff.
I was excited for an old Tom gin but there is none of the comforting sweetness I've found on Drury lane. Not familiar with Ice wine there is a lot going on here. Sort of like sherry poured over a christmas pud with an aftertaste of mildewy thyme. Over ice it gets better.
Diluted in a tonic it isn't half bad. Don't expect an old tom but it is quaffable.

Sweet baby Jesus...
This is a simply unbelievable bottle of gin. You'd think that the Icewine influence would be very subtle given how crazy-expensive it is, but not a bit of it. It packs a huge aromatic punch from the Wine, but it never oversteps the line and overpowers the juniper. 10/10.
