Hven Organic Gin Bottling Note

A top quality, handcrafted gin from the Swedish island of Hven, situated in the Öresund Strait between Denmark and Sweden. It is an organic wheat gin that is both pot distilled and oak matured with botanicals such as juniper, grains of paradise, citrus, Sichuan pepper, aniseed, and guinea pepper. The oak maturation gives this an oily and smooth mouthfeel lending itself well for everything from cocktails to cooking.

In fact, Spirit of Hven Organic Gin is the only gin served at Copenhagen's Noma, the Best Restaurant in the World (Restaurant Magazine 2010, 2011, 2012 & 2014).

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Elegant with fresh citrus in balance with vanilla and gentle juniper.

Palate There's a depth of flavour here and a quality that's clearly evident. Warming Sichuan pepper and anise aren't overpowering.

Finish Citrusy, oily, long and smooth aftertaste.

Overall A little slice of heaven on earth.

Reviews for Spirit of Hven Organic Gin
Great quality gin.
A very nice gin. I understand why Noma serves this gin. High class Juniper taste.

One note to others. It's cheaper to buy 5 of the 10cl bottles! 😉

Heaven
Friends of my daughter bought this gin for me as a treat for hosting them over summer in France. My reputation comes before me! An intriguing botanical ‘nose’ and a unique, peppery most interesting flavour. It stands out from the crowd. A very special treat!

tried this at a local bar, served with vanilla bitters and tonic. delicious and I have switched to this from citrus based gins.

Best gin in the world
A client gave it as a gift to me and was the kindest gesture. Heaven in a bottle that is.

Lovely
Think this my favourite gin next to Monkey 47, an unusual flavour but I didn't think it tasted of whisky particularly. ..

Very strong Whiskey flavour
I was really looking forward to trying this gin, but unfortunately it's just not to my taste. While some of the botanicals really came through, for me it was the strong Whiskey/Barrel aged type taste that dominated, and as someone who's not a whiskey fan, it made it undrinkable. I have a couple of friends who are big whiskey drinkers and they loved it, so it's purely a personal taste thing.

Aniseedy yumminess
This is a wonderfully smooth gin, unusual in its flavours but distinctive. For me its the hints of aniseed that top it off. Loved this gin just to sip minus any tonic.

Intruiging mouth-feel
We have to remember than not all gins are created equal and therefore don't all taste the same. Thank goodness of course. They can be coriander led, citrussy or vegetal. I prefer citrus notes to the fore for a G+T of course. This unusual gin is very distinctive for its unusual choice of ingredients and it's special tangy peppery aniseed (gentle) twist. Strongly recommended.
