Smeaton's Bristol Method Dry Gin is made using specially-sourced base spirit and a selection of eight botanicals - juniper, angelica, calamus, cinnamon, coriander, liquorice, orange and orris. Each botanical is distilled separately when its fresh, then blended together to create the final gin.
Earthy juniper and cinnamon, with lingering freshness of orange. A touch of fennel seed, too.
This is a superb gin with subtle flavours of orange and liquorice. Sadly, it does not last very long.
Stand out gin at show, just brilliant
Not as good as I had hoped, thought it lacked a bit punch personally and the botanicals didn't really come through. My measures are generous too, so surprised this was the case. Final clincher being the price point, there is better to be had £10-£15 cheaper. Nice bottle though.
Best gin? I think so...
