Scapegrace Gin

Scapegrace Gin comes to us all the way from New Zealand, produced in a 19th century John Dore copper pot still. Its recipe calls for a selection of of 12 botanicals, which includes juniper, coriander, nutmeg, cardamom, lemon peel, orange peel, orris, cinnamon, cassia, angelica, clove and liquorice. It comes presented in a rather striking bottle inspired by an antique genever bottle - a little nod to the spirit's long and storied history. Also, it looks awesome. Both good reasons. "Scapegrace" is another name for a rogue or scoundrel, in case you were wondering.

The signature serve for this one is a classic G&T, served with plenty of ice and a good wedge of fresh orange, though if you're feeling a little more adventurous, it does very well in a Bee Knees Cocktail. Combine three parts Scapegrace Gin with one part fresh lemon juice, add in three teaspoons of honey, shake over ice and strain into a glass with a ribbon of lemon peel for garnish.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Bright citrus balanced by almost festive notes of cinnamon and pine.

Palate

Juniper really takes hold on the palate - big and bold with an oily touch to it. Cardamom, clove and cinnamon once again keep things enjoyably spicy.

Finish

Lasting lemon and juniper, plus just a hint of liquorice.
