Woden Gin is the very first and signature product from Bristol-based Psychopomp Microdistillery. A Psychopomp is a being who escorts the dead to the afterlife, and Woden is the Anglo-Saxon counterpart of Norse god, Odin, who was indeed a psychopomp. It's thought that Wednesday was named after Woden, though don't worry, you can drink this gin on any day of the week. Filled with classic gin botanicals, this is an ideal candidate for a Martini.
Piney juniper leads this one, with warming spices balanced by bittersweet grapefruit citrus and distinctive fennel, followed by a creamy finish.
This is one of my favourite gins. When contrasted with Chase Pomello (strong grapefruit / zesty) this has light grapefruit notes together with a light pine note. The gin is very smooth, and the grapefruit still comes through in a gentle lingering after taste. I like to sip this neat , at room temperature
One of the very best Gins I have tasted. Smooth, clean and very drinkable. A great gin.
My son bought me this for my birthday. It's perfect for me...tastes like Turkish delight. May be too sweet for some.
