Dr. Squid Gin

Dr. Squid Gin comes to us from the Pocketful of Stones Distillery in Penzance, which was made using a recipe that features real, no-foolin' squid ink! We squid you not! A rather savoury expression, with a coastal feeling to it, along with a few touches of citrus and spice. If that wasn't cool enough, it also turns bright pink when you mix it with tonic! It comes in a copper flask, engraved with all sorts of flora and fauna. It also looks like the eponymous Dr. Squid is on the label...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Savoury kitchen herbs, balanced by fresh lemon zest and meadowsweet.

Palate Citrus sits at the core, with woody juniper following. Subtly floral at points, and a touch of sea breeze sneaks in later on.

Finish Spring blossom and pine.

Impressive
Lovely gin and a great idea for a bottle!

Really special
Bought this for a friend who absolutely loved it and I think is now planning to visit their distillery in the summer.

Love this!
One of my top three gins. Yes the flask is cool, it does the colour change thing and it has the unusual ingredient in squid ink, but it’s also amazingly well balanced and delicate.

Terrible
Great packaging and a nice trick with the colour change. But the taste is awful. Doesn’t taste like gin at all. Tastes like something industrial/ chemical. This one is just an expensive drain cleaner.

If you like the idea of a colour change gin, grab a bottle of Six Dogs Blue or Piston Rose and Lychee.

After throwing this down the sink, the bottle will become a pretty soap dispenser. Sorry to the people at the distillery for being so forthright but this is a real disappointment for us.

Lovely!
Got this as a birthday present and it’s just excellent!
Lovely flavours make for a great g&t and the colour change and flask make it the perfect gift!

Update on dog thievery and apology.
Errrr.... I wish I could edit previous review where I complained about the tin losing gin while pouring. When I went to bed last night I found a neatly packaged pouring spout on my bed. I can only assume that the dog (who helped open the parcel), nicked it and has now guiltily returned it hoping to be anonymous. Sorry MofM 🥺
