Dr. Squid Gin Bottling Note

Dr. Squid Gin comes to us from the Pocketful of Stones Distillery in Penzance, which was made using a recipe that features real, no-foolin' squid ink! We squid you not! A rather savoury expression, with a coastal feeling to it, along with a few touches of citrus and spice. If that wasn't cool enough, it also turns bright pink when you mix it with tonic! It comes in a copper flask, engraved with all sorts of flora and fauna. It also looks like the eponymous Dr. Squid is on the label...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Savoury kitchen herbs, balanced by fresh lemon zest and meadowsweet.

Palate: Citrus sits at the core, with woody juniper following. Subtly floral at points, and a touch of sea breeze sneaks in later on.

Finish: Spring blossom and pine.

Dr. Squid Gin Reviews

Poor bottle design - spillage and waste

Really poorly designed bottle. When pouring it spills everywhere which is annoying as it’s a small bottle and too expensive to waste.

Sort of expected the gin to be a bit average with the elaborate bottle and everything, but it's an exceptional gin! Well worth trying.

6 Stars!

Absolutely love everything about this and Pocketful of Stones. Did the tour last summer and it’s just amazing!!

Simply great.

Came across this in a Facebook group and decided to give it a try. The beautifully crafted tin caught my eye initially, but the gin itself is by no means secondary to its packaging. Great flavour, works with different mixers, and has a really cool colour effect. Highly recommend - thanks FB, thanks Pocketful of Stones!

Bought one for my sister for her birthday. She was over the moon and says she’s been drinking it with lemonade and loves it!

Excellent gin!

Would not buy again

I was disappointed with this gin. It tastes of the copper jar it comes in, as beautiful as that is i feel it really hinders the taste. Would love to taste from a glass bottle. Would not buy again.

A top gin with a twist

Just bought this. And must say its good. Copper flask it comes in is stunning. Pouring can be a bit tricky, but it smells & tastes great. We paired it with lemon & fever tree Mediterranean tonic. The colour change is not new, but a nice addition. Would buy it again.

Brilliant squid ink gin!

My Misses bought me this gin for my Christmas, and I got to say it’s a new favourite!
Looks great in my home bar, and tastes even better. Love the colour changing effect.
Will definitely order more.

Highly recommended

An absolutely stunning gin, unfortunately we tried this early one evening , we were trying a few different ones that night, couldn’t taste any of the others afterwards, should’ve tried it last,
