Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin Bottling Note

A London Dry Gin made with botanicals from along the traditional spice route that led back to the UK. Indonesian Cubeb berries, Indian black pepper and Moroccan coriander are all used in this gin, launched by Quintessential Brands in 2013.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Coriander and citrus, gentle juniper and peppery notes.

Palate: More discernible spiciness and juniper with plenty of coriander.

Finish: Refreshing with citrus and spice.

Overall: A handsome gin that's playfully spiced.

Reviews for Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin
Indian spiced gin
Oh well, I really like it. Not getting the sweat taste, I get bitter oranges and cardamon, it has a strong Indian scent which I find appealing, one of my favourites.

kind of gross
i got this as a 50ml bottle in a gin gift set because i love gin but not gonna lie this kinda sucks </3 i agree w/ the people saying it smells like sweat and idk it kinda tastes like it too? to be fair i have that gene that makes coriander taste soapy but... i think this gin is kinda gross in general tbh i don't recommend unless you like the taste of coriander and sweat?

i guess this review is a bit harsh because i'm still gonna drink it (but that's ONLY because it was a gift (and i wanna get drunk))

Cardamom
Pretty smooth generally. Basically tastes like what would happen if you took cardamom and steeped it in vodka. Don't get me wrong I like cardamom but not exactly what I look for in my gin.

Ugh
I’m with the people who say it smells of sweat, I’m thinking of throwing it away. It must be only certain palates that find it distasteful, others seem to enjoy it which is a mystery to me. At least the bottle is pretty.

O
Bought by my neighbour. Usually have tanquery 10.. this was lovely. Wouldn’t pay £28 for it but would definitely drink again

You’ll either love it or hate it. Makes a good Dirty Martini
I love this gin. I understand why others may not though as it is very different. Coriander forward and I also get cardamom. Makes a mean dirty martini though.

I love to drink gin and love to discover and try new ones. I bought a bottle of this gin last year and.... I couldn't drink it. At first when i saw the notes i was very excited as I love to eat Indian food . But this... Honestly. I canot drink it. I just feel like drinking someone's sweat... It honeslty reminds me of someone who sweat a lot....Not pleasant... I love cumin and coriander , I love spices but this doesn'tt work at all. I tried to mix it with so many things. ... tried to do cocktails.. That taste is still there . So strong. And stays in my mouth. The cumin is way too poweful but just smells and taste wrong for a gin ... Im very disapointed with this gin. Shame as i liked the branding an the logo. They need to to change the recipe .

So hard to like this
Really difficult to like this as hard as I try! Don’t really understand why they spice this with cumin flavours as they’re quite overpowering. It’s marketed as a London dry gin!

Different, unusual, addictive.
I love it, quite different but loved it with Schweppes tonic and a slice of orange.
I really don't get why anyone compares it to armpit odour, they must have strange friends. I understand it's not too everyone's taste but I'm glad I ignored the bad reviews.
