From North Uist in the Outer Hebrides comes Downpour Gin! This expression makes use of wild Hebridean heather as its star botanical, alongside classic notes of citrus and spice. Should make for fantastic G&Ts come rain or shine (you'll want to garnish it with a sprig of rosemary or heather). Downpour Gin has been showered with awards, including a gold medal in the London Spirits Competition, and a master award in the Spirits Business Gin Masters 2022.
Immensely herby and aromatic, with the heather standing out brilliantly alongside fresh orange and oaky juniper.
Right from the very first warming and herby drop you know you are in for a treat. Not your average Gin this one is packed full of oily goodness, enough to bring on a pleasant louche with diliution. Echoes of Drambuie before the ruined it wring out across a windswept close this is definitely one for the whisky lovers. Very similar to the Nc'nean botanical spirit but short and snappy with the richness of an old tom.
Quite simply the best gin ever. Strong botanicals create an amazing flavour.
I was given a bottle of Downpour Gin as a birthday gift by my sister who lives in Glasgow. I have never tasted a gin with so much flavour, it absolutely bursts with it. An amazing discovery.
Not enough juniper, or 'gin' flavour. For my taste it was too flowery and lemony, more like the inside of a lady's handbag. But the fashions are after all, going for light and 'pink', so whose loss is it?
Just back from island hopping on the Outer Hebrides where we discovered this gin at our hotel on North Uist. One of the best gins I've tasted, not overpowering and very refreshing.
