North Point
This vibrant expression from the North Point Distillery all the way up on the north coast of Scotland is a classic London dry style gin, boasting an array of 17 botanicals and a cane spirit base (which makes sense, considering the distillery also produces some excellent rum!). Locally sourced botanicals include the likes of Scots pine, Icelandic moss, sea buckthorn, and rowan berries. Deliciously coastal, with hints of citrus rounding it out.
Crisp juniper and zesty citrus are joined by anise, lemon balm, and orange oil, with fragrant pink peppercorn spice, subtle vegetal notes, and berry sweetness.
We stumbled upon this distillery on a very wet day on our NC500 trip in 2023. Great tour, great people and most importantly great Gin. Enjoyed the tour and the tasting of all their spirits so much we returned in 2024 with a group of a dozen or so friends. Their shop did very well that day, I just wish I had bought more. We have a collection of nearly 100 different Gins from across the world and this has to be my No.1 favourite !
