Chocolate Cherry Gin - McQueen (That Boutique-y Gin Company)
Vicky and Dale McQueen have something of a history when it comes to creating gins with flavours you never expect to see but work so very well when you taste them (a Chocolate Mint Gin and Smokey Chilli Gin stand out in our minds) - and they've done it again. Their Chocolate Cherry Gin, bottled by That Boutique-y Gin Company, is made with cocoa, sour cherries and a smattering of traditional gin botanicals, resulting in a tipple that would likely pair well with a slice of decadent chocolate!
Batch 1 is a release of 659 bottles.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Marshmallow and glacé cherry sweetness lead before warm, buttery and aromatic gingerbread rises. There’s notes of light juniper, candied orange peel and royal icing in the backdrop.
Palate
Black Forest gateau, icing sugar and kirsch-soaked cherries initially, with some sweet juniper. Winter spices bring some festiveness to the mixture.
Finish
Lingering milk chocolate elegance.
Overall
Festive, fun and fabulously decedent, it’s an absolute dessert of a dram.
