We've been conducting some experiments with cask ageing gin. "Experiments" might be a bit strong, it makes it sound like something could go wrong, but there was no risk involved here – we knew that resting gin in an octave cask that previously held Madeira wine could only lead to great things... like a next-level Martinez. Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Rich with notes of sticky dates and oily juniper, followed by cinnamon sticks, orange oil, and a touch of crème brûlée.
Palate
Liquorice and juniper are joined by sweet, warming spice, with fruity notes of hibiscus and guava in tow.
Finish
Barky botanicals and oaken vanilla linger, with a touch of mint chocolate, and sweet, cakey spices beneath.
