Kyrö Gin
The Kyrö Distillery in Isokyrö, Finland created this well-loved gin to evoke the flavours of fresh Finnish summers – made with local rye grain and botanicals including birch leaves and meadowsweet, we'd say mission accomplished.
It was even was voted as the World's Best Gin for Gin & Tonic by the IWSC in 2015, so get your tonic ice, fresh cranberries and a sprig of rosemary to garnish to enjoy this one. Top work from the 'Adventurous Rye Rye Gentlemen'!
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
A soft and succulent blend of creamy vanilla and angelica leads with help from deep, concentrated notes of juniper. An understated pink peppercorn spice sharpens orange blossom, among a herbal twinge of coriander root and cardamom seed.
Palate
The palate adds more floral and perfumed qualities, Parma Violets and a touch of rich heather, among bolder kicks of spice, which include a little cinnamon. Some marzipan icing develops with tinges of fresh lemon.
Finish
Quite short and impressively delicate.
Overall
An impressively mature, understated gin, reminiscent of classic styles.
