Jawbox Gin Bottling Note

Jawbox Gin comes to us from the Ards Peninsula, on the north-east coast of Northern Ireland. This small batch gin is made with a combination of 11 botanicals, including juniper, lemon, cubeb, angelica, coriander, cassia, orris root, grains of paradise, cardamom, liquorice root and Black Mountain heather. The distillers recommend trying this with ginger ale and a squeeze of lime.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Peppery juniper starts it off, followed by fragrant angelica and citrus. Fresh pine begins to grow as it develops, with cardamom adding a hint of spice.

Jawbox Gin Reviews

Might just be worth the extra tenner

Jawbox has a taste of its own not unlike the honeycomb many of us Belfastians sometimes add to it. A bit pricey but good quality.

A good gin but don’t believe the hype .....

A nic pr gin for sure but the balance of flavours in a G&T just aren’t there. If you want sweet it’s grand otherwise look to other Irish Gin such as Shortcross and Dingle much better in my opinion

Best in the UK

I noticed that this won Best Gin in the UK recently so I bought a bottle to try. It was great - a very traditional style gin but really well balanced. It mentioned on the website to drink with Ginger Ale and what a revelation it was. Forget the tonic, its Jawbox and Ginger Ale for me.

excellent

Sweet enough to drink with a little ice and no mixer

Great local fayre

Having created the gin and honeycomb serve I’m amazed by the response it’s had. I’m chuffed that it has become the Marmite of my generation. Really chuffed. More so, because I think the likes outweigh the dislikes. So homegrown, local and proud of its heritage. Don’t have honeycomb? Well apparently the chocolate removed from a crunchie holds its weight... I love this gin though and couldn’t be more proud to have represented. With honeycomb or without. It’s still a nice clean taste.

Soooo good!

My favourite gin. Tried a few and keep coming back to this one.It is so good! Traditional but has an edge over others for me. The smell is gorgeous (not like nail polish remover at all!) It’s dry and savoury and some people find it sweet, likely because of the liquorice. I drink it with fevertree gin and tonic and a slice of lemon and lime to which accentuates the dryness. Must be the most refreshing drink out there.

Exceptional flavour.

Quite simply, one of my favourites. My new great delight in gin is the wonderful range of small batch gins available to try. The flavour of Jawbox is exceptional and the branding message on the bottle caught my eye for its insightfulness for one born and bred in the Province but now living in Scotland.

Pure Class

I am a big fan of jawbox especially with ginger ale and honeycomb.

Excellent

Rapidly becoming one of my favourite gins. (alongside Whitley Neill and Martin Miller's). It's distinctive, quite sweet and incredibly refreshing. I pair it with slimline fever tree (like all my gins). Give it a shot and I promise you won't be disappointed.

Superb flavour, but I was so impressed by the bouquet it took ages to take my first sip, I breathed it deeply for ages, heavenly fragrance.

I'm sorry to say being from Northern Ireland mysself but this is a very poor gin. Bought it from Tesco in Enniskillen at the cost of £32 which I would put in the medium to premier price bracket for Gin. However when I tried it that night I was really disappointed and I somehow doubt the overall alcohol level it contains. Personally I wouldn't be able to share this bottle without feeling some effect but both my girlfriend and I looked at each other in complete bewilderment after the bottle had been consumed with no effect.

Whats more disappointing is that a month ago I had emailed the company feeling hard done by but received no reply. Would definitely not recommend and feel hard done by.

Exceptional Irish Gin

This is a fantastic new Gin. Loads of Juniper followed by an almost spicy peppery taste experience. Then finishing off with a very refreshing citrus. Excellent with Ginger Ale.
