FEW Breakfast Gin

Do you know what's great? Gin. Do you know what else is great? Breakfast. Or better yet, brunch! One of the great things about working at a craft distillery is that after realising these important points, and that there's no gin on the market tailored to the glory of morning meals, you can do something about it!

Steven Kaplan set about making the perfect morning gin. Coffee was considered, but it was tea that won out as he decided upon an Earl Grey tea bergamot-forward recipe. Perfect for his brunch French 75 (and yours).

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Coriander, lemon balm and rice paper are the early risers here. Following them, the aromatic, inviting notes of brewing Earl Grey start to develop handsomely.

Palate The elegant and refreshing qualities of Earl grey are well displayed here, alongside bergamot's unique citrus characteristics and fresh juniper. A touch of peppermint and violet fragrance on the mid-palate.

Finish Lingering sweetness with a burst of cinnamon for good measure.

Overall 'Fresh' is very much the word at the forefront of my mind when tasting this - just the ticket for enjoying with brunch.

Not for me
It doesn’t taste enough like gin

Nothing but blah
I drink spirits. I like Gin. I could not distinguish the tasting notes. Flavors muddled and nondescript. Purchased in Maryland April 2020. Not even a good mixer, because that taste that makes it objectionable, makes it through the mixer.

All day brunch
Love this gin. Classic grain forward with strong jumpier notes. Love with Tonic and blood orange or pink/red grapefruit.

Yuck
I think the only persons who wold enjoy this are those who habitually drink gin as part of their breakfast routine. Distinct similarity to cheap vodka but harder to stomach. Going to have to go in the trash, unfortunately. Half a star for catering to the intervention-prone.

Not worth half the cost
No complexity at all - very disappointing

Tastes like Everclear. Alcohol and then nothing.
All I get is raw alcohol. No juniper, tea or anything else really. Reminds me of St George Gins- the Terroir or the Rye. Big punch in the mouth. Not pleasant.

Love it - the most important gin of the day!
As a great fan of breakfast, as well as gin, I was exceptionally excited to try this gin - I really enjoyed it. It's certainly on the contemporary side of thing but the earl grey / citrus flavour adds a good intensity to the gin and mixes very well. I've enjoyed in Breakfast Martinis (quelle suprisé!) as well as with some sparkling water and a wedge of orange.
