Durham Gin Bottling Note

"Rex Habit Extra, Quicquid Episcopus Habit Intra" as it says on the Durham distillery website. Brings back such memories of Durham. Oh, Durham...

(Jake studied Ancient History at Durham and although he's staring wistfully into space right now, he should return to this Bottling Note in just a moment - hopefully without providing us with any of his anecdotes.)

Distilled in the eponymous city in the northeast of England, Durham Gin is made with ten botanicals including juniper, celery seed, elderflower and pink peppercorn as well as a secret mix of other herbs and spices. Some of these are macerated prior to distillation, some are added into the still and others go in the gin basket above depending on where the flavours are best extracted. Produced in small batches of just a few hundred bottles, Durham Gin provides balanced notes of citrus, spice, fresh florals and earthy roots.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Soft juniper with a spicy edge, paired wonderfully with savoury cooking herbs and light, fruity sweetness.

Love it!

I love this gin but appreciate that it might not be to everyone’s tastes, the celery seed is certainly predominant but if you like a savoury edge to your gin I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Absolutely delicious

A very refreshing Gin with a unique flavour. Since trying it I have always had one in my collection and bought it for others who love it too

Unusual & Delicious

Was recently blown away by this. The finish (reminiscent) of celery salt kept making me want to come back for me. Bold & brave, a must try.

Very smooth on the palate with loads of flavour and a really long finish.

I like the mix of spicy and savoury notes from the pink pepper and the celery.

A lovely and slightly different London Dry!

Very nice

I recently tried this gin and loved it. I hate celery and can taste it when in something but I didn't find it too over powering at all. Overall a very nice gin and one I will be buying again.

Pleasing but the celery could be moderated. Oh ! yes I was born in Langley Park 67 years ago. I like celery too !

Not to my taste

The celery seed is over pervasive and detracts from the expected clean taste
