Conker Spirit Gin Bottling Note

Conker Spirit was founded by Rupert Holloway in the wonderful county of Dorset, home to many local beers but very little in the way of spirits. In walks Dorset Dry Gin from Dorset's first gin distillery! Conker Spirit's Dorset Dry Gin is distilled using British wheat spirit, New Forest spring water and 10 botanicals, including some rather distinctively-Dorset-inspired botanicals - Gorse Flowers, Samphire and Elderberries.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: A summer meadow aroma leads among the subtle sweetness of citrus and icing sugar. Bright juniper percolates throughout.

Palate: Soft and supple, the palate begins with plenty of classic juniper elements among a berry jam sweetness and an underlay of more icing sugar. There’s a touch of spearmint here too.

Finish: There is a little damp, earthy spice and orange oil in the finish.

Overall: A wonderful take on dry gin that would shine with a helping of elderflower tonic.

Conker Spirit Dorset Dry Gin Reviews

Well worth sampling and buying

The use of Gorse flowers in the original Conker is inspired. I've tried all their gins and my favourite is the Navy Strength. Followed by Conker Cold brew and original Conker Gin.

Excellent for martini's

If you like a dry smooth gin with hints of lemon then this one is for you. No sign of floral notes which many gins have. It's perfect for a dry martini with a lemon twist.

Best G&Ts ever

The first stop on a month long road trip of the UK was at The Mariner's Hotel in Lyme Regis. My sister and I had the best G&T we ever tasted. Asked what gin was used and it was Conker's. We tried to have it at other towns on the trip, but were never able to find it. We both wish we had brought a bottle home. Hopefully, you will get the shipping worked out soon. Lovely, crisp, delicious gin.

Wow...could I have been converted?

Let me start by saying I really dislike gin. Of any sort. Always have and thought I always would. However, I tried this today and have to say I’m immediately converted. Very light and refreshing with a cleansing feel to it. It’s made me wonder if I’ve been missing something or whether this is actually so different from other gins that it’s the only one I will like going forward. Anyway, here’s to finding out.

Simply the best gin we have tasted

Of all the gins we've tried out over the last couple of years this is the absolute best and our top choice. Outstanding flavour. Not easy to get up here in Scotland, but worth the effort.

A Gin Worthy of 5* Rating

I tend to read all the reviews before trying out a new gin. Well, I have to say, this one doesn't disappoint. I love my gin but would not consider myself a connoisseur - I'd probably struggle to identify the botanicals, apart from juniper. I found (past tense, as sadly the bottle is now empty) this to be smooth, easy to drink and with no dominant flavour coming through - just a very drinkable, pleasant, well balanced gin. Mixed with Fever Tree, slice of lime and a slice of cucumber it really is a very satisfying tipple.

That’s the Spirit!

There are so many gins out there that it’s hard to know what to get. I’m pleased that I picked Conker - I love this on its own with a good tonic, no need to add any jazzy flavours, it’s great on its own!

11th February 2018

This gin is so average that I really cannot understand why people rave about it so much. There are so many more accomplished and complex gins out there & it's really not worth paying the "premium" price tag for this one.

21st November 2017

Lake in flavours and complexity not one I’d recommend

26th October 2017

My favorite gin !

Love love love this gin ...first tried it when visiting my sister-in-law in Dorset (I live in Northern Ireland) then came to Bournemouth for gin festival and got a bottle sent home it not sure how many I have ordered...only complaint is price of p&p to Northern Ireland😁

Quality gin

Quality gin. Right up there in my top 2 gins from the gin club!

15th September 2017

Amazing Gin

Its the best Gin I have had in a long while a little goes a very long way.

4th July 2017

Thank you reviewers...

Was looking for a new gin to try so I took to the ratings and reviews on here for guidance. This, by far, had the best and most consistent reviews and now I see why. This is every bit as good as Monkey 47, and when you consider you're getting more of this for a lower price I really can't see myself going back. Tried it first as a G&T, but given how smooth and flavorsome it was I'll be trying it neat next.

2nd May 2017

Believe the hype

A couple of friends from the West Country recommended this to me.
I tried some in a G&T and yes, I loved it. Then I had my usual gin in G&T format and there was no comparison. I won't name the usual, but it's one of the slightly better, well known labels. Still good gin, but not a patch on Conker.

19th March 2017

Fantastic gin

Wonderful tasting gin think best have ever tasted and adore the aroma. Would encourage any gin drinker to try this you wont be disappointed although of course it's down t individual taste.

The best we've tasted

We saw this Gin on Around the World with Manu, in Australia last year. Whilst visiting the UK over christmas we found it in a store in Bournemouth and bought a bottle. WOW!!! It is the best gin we have ever had, so now I am buying some to share with friends back home in Australia.

5th January 2017

Tasted this gin at the Exbury Christmas fayre. Brought a stubby, it is a very smooth and easy to drink on its own or with a mixer, should have brought a large bottle!

26th December 2016

Ali ( Dorset)

On a whim we sat at the top of the Hilton hotel in Bournemouth with a skyline view and ordered a conker gin and tonic. It was served with ice, mint and an orange slice. It was so refreshing and delicious that i've ordered several for Christmas and one for home too.

The most refreshing taste!

The most refreshing taste!

13th November 2016

Best ever!

We were encouraged to try the 'local' gin whilst staying at Brownsea Castle and advised to try it with tonic and orange rather than the usual lemon. It was absolutely divine. Am now sharing the love and giving Conker as a gift this Christmas - as well as buying one for myself.

conker gin

omg the best Gin in the world so smooth and tasty .

22nd October 2016

A real gin convert

Until yesterday I wasn't a huge gin fan. I struggled (well, sort of) through a few of the 'new' gins from around the UK, always reverting to good old Gordon's ... until I was offered a taste of Conker at my local COOK outlet; so impressed I bought a bottle and served it to equally impressed friends at last night's dinner party. For one non-gin lover I served it with M&S Elderflower Presse, which went down very well! It's now my favourite tipple and will take pride of place in my drinks cupboard. Well done all at Conker Spirit!

22nd October 2016

Try this, it's different

Amazing flavour

16th October 2016

Just attended a Gin Tasting event in Winchester. From all the ones available to purchase, Conker was the only Gin we came home with. Delicious with lots of ice and a slice of lime. Such a lovely guy too who represented the company. Well done.

24th July 2016

A Wonderful Martini Gin

I had purchased a small bottle after Rupert gave me a taste while visiting Fortnum & Mason. Upon returning to the United States we celebrated with a martini. This is now my new martini gin. The perfect mix of botanicals! Well done Rupert.

9th July 2016

Bloomin' Ace Conkercoction!!!

Well don Conker crew... You nailed it. We love your gin 'round at our house! I tasted a lot (ahem) of gin at November '15's Good Food Show, but yours stood out as a clear winner for me, so I bought some for my Hubster as an anniversary present - it's top of our gin pile, for sure!

26th March 2016

Mellow magic

Best gin I've tasted. Very mellow refreshing and tastes of a Dorset summer. I think it's the gorse flowers.

3rd March 2016

Really lovely. Drank at he Marriott for the first time. Definitely won't be the last...

7th February 2016

mrs penk

This was a lovely birthday present for my husband, but so wonderful he only managed 4 glasses as I couldn't keep away from it!! Best gin iv ever tasted.

6th February 2016

Fantastic Flavour

Ordered this whilst at the Marriott. Amazing taste. Authentic and full of flavour. Will be heading to Westbourne to pick up a bottle...or two next week!

4th February 2016

Sugary nonesense? What were you drinking?

One bad review for this finest of gins. I can ony assume they were not drinking Conker. I suspect someone had drunk all their gin and refilled the bottle with something else!

28th January 2016

Simply the Best

A really fantastic product. Smooth, sophisticated and must have with fever tree tonic.

16th January 2016

Good start to 2016!

What a fab xmas gift from some lovely friends. This one has definitely been added to my fav list of new Gins.

13th January 2016

Awful, sugary nonsense.

Smooth? Perhaps if you ignore all the sugar cloying to your teeth and mouth. Horrendously sweet gin, to call this a dry gin is absurd.

10th January 2016

Wow, simply wow !!!!

Wow, best gin ever - such a smooth drink and my favourite gin without a doubt. Just served simply with Fevertree tonic and ice no garnish needed.

5th January 2016

This is my now 'favourite' gin, sooo smooth, you can drink just on the rocks but it is equally as fabulous served with Fever-Tree tonic and a lovely fresh sprig of rosemary......mmmmmm!

Bought is in the Summer out of curiosity and absolutely loved it. We enjoy trying different gins and Conker is way up there with our favourites. Reluctantly we shared wi friends who also loved it. SO excited we can buy it online now. Cheers!

5th December 2015

my favourite

Bought this gin from good food show and it has instantly become our favourite gin! Most gin with added tonic basically become undistinguishable however not this ! Really fruity and delicious!

29th November 2015

Font ever buy anything else

Lovely refreshing and crisp. Taste of Britain that we have taken with us on our move to France. Drink it really cold with Fever Tree tonic, there's nothing quite like it to remind us of home.

3rd November 2015

Try with lots of ice, splash of Fevertree tonic and a sprig of rosemary. My favourite gin!

12th October 2015

Best Gin so far!

We bought this on a recent trip to Dorset - Lovely! Nicest Gin I have ever had

3rd October 2015

Excellent gin

Love this just over ice!

13th August 2015

Lovely smooth taste

I often drink this gin with just ice as its so smooth and the flavours of the forest are easier to taste without the tonic masking them. Not tried keeping it in the freezer but this is a must I feel now!

13th August 2015

The gin lover's holy grail!

This really is a beautiful gin. So good, in fact, that I occasionally omit the tonic and just add ice - the balance of flavours ensure there's no harsh aftertaste, but instead a satisfying 'buzz' that lingers harmoniously on the palate. Delicious! It's even turned my gin-hating boyfriend into a big gin fan. Keep it in the freezer and treat yourself after a long day - it's magic!

13th August 2015

Got a taste of the Conker last weekend with mum who smuggled a bottle back to Tassie. 5 stars, 10/10, A+ love it! Looking forward to summer and some lovely Conkertonics!

13th August 2015

Absolutely spot on. Beautiful after taste, could drink it all day!

9th August 2015

Very Moreish

This is a lovely rounded, easy to drink gin and very moreish. I'm delighted that we can buy it locally from Badger and Bumble in Westbourne but also mail order for my relatives in Scotland who are now great fans!
