Capreolus
A stunning English gin from the Capreolus distillery in the Cotswolds. Garden Swift Gin (formerly known as Garden Tiger Gin - the distillers felt that after its big impact worldwide the gin's name deserve to evolve) is made with a meticulously pruned botanical recipe of 34 ingredients, including fresh Sicilian blood orange and flowers from Tillia cordata, a particular variety of small-leaved lime tree native to Britain. It's by no means a traditional gin (distiller Barney Wilczak had no interest in creating one of those), but it's definitively a modern classic.
Apple, peach and citrus, followed by a softly savoury hint of basil leaf and cinnamon.
Resinous pine stands at the fore, joined by violet and honeysuckle floral hints. Another helping of fruity notes in the shape of blueberry and pear.
Enjoyably spicy on the finish with juniper and cinnamon, balanced by a touch of melon.
A firm favourite after first trying a couple of years ago... it is simply an amazing gin! Goes perfectly with tonic and a slice of orange. Only a shame it's a 50cl bottle!
Claims to contain blood orange and flowers but, if so, completely overpowered by cloves. One dimensional, dominated by heavy, dry spice. Also claims to be made by one man in small batches - mine was one of 200 in batch 179, making this 35,800 bottles produced to date. Skeptical.
An amazing, unique gin.. one of our favourites.. would definitely recommend!
Definitely in my top 3 of Gins, this is a delicious Gin with blood orange in the botanicals, I have over 200 artisan small batch Gins and this is a winner ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
