    Bathtub Gin - Cask-Aged

Cask-Aged Gin from the marvellous Ableforth's! Made by taking tiny "octave" casks (roughly a fifth of the capacity of standard hogsheads), and filling them with the multi-award-winning Bathtub Gin, the spirit is then aged for between three to six months before bottling.

Thanks to the large surface area to volume ratio of these small casks, the gin gains all kinds of complexity and flavour during these months.

The result is a wonderfully spicy, rich and buttery gin. Although no longer released in individual batches, nothing about the production of this fantastic gin has actually changed so fill yer boots!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Rich juniper notes and soft caramelised orange. It's very mellow, but with a depth of botanicals that draw you further and further in. Creamy soft butter and vanilla sweetness.

    Palate

A velvety mouthfeel, it rolls easily over the tongue with that wonderful creamy orange sweetness. Juniper and sugared peel roll in and fade out slowly into the finish.

    Finish

Orange creams, with a smooth, long-lasting sweet softness in the mouth.

    Overall

The cask ageing has added such smoothness and creaminess to this gin. It's wonderful stuff.

    Cask aged, properly

A lot of products like this claim to be cask aged, but it feels more like the gin and the cask were ships in the night. This has clearly had a much more meaningful relationship with the cask, and it's made this gin the liquor equivalent of a 'man of the world'.

    One of the best!

Easily one of the best Gins going!

    Recipe Change

I was told that the recipe has now changed on this bottle. It used to be matured in brand new casks, but is now matured in casks that held few bourbon. It's much less oaky, and much sweeter now - I prefer it this way.

    Massively Oaked

If you don't like Oak, stay away - this is very oaky.

Master of Malt Customer Jan 16, 2015

    Delicious

The oak influence is really big on this.
