A fragrant, subtly sweet Apple Eau De Vie from the Somerset Cider Brandy Company. Enjoy from a proper tasting glass to get the most of those gorgeous Somerset apples, or perhaps try your hand at using it in a cocktail - it ought to give your tipple a good burst of authentic apple flavours.
Eau de Vie seems to be generally pretty expensive (this coming from someone used to ever increasing price of single malts) and I’ve never had an Eau de Vie before so start with I wanted something that was decent but good value and I’m glad to say that’s exactly what I got with this. I’ve also recently been dabbling in Calvados for the first time and this is obviously very similar but I prefer this as it has a slightly sweeter and much cleaner character. It takes a couple of sips to get acclimatised to it, then it goes down very nicely, it is pure rustic apples in spirit form but with no sugar or artificialness like you get from some schnapps. Great buy.
I'm thoroughly enjoying this Eau De Vie; apple is very present on the nose, which really adds to the experience, but it doesn't taste overwhelmingly of apples. In other words, a perfect balance is reached.
