Thomas Dakin

In 1761, a 25 year-old entrepreneur began brewing his own, distinctive, northern gin. More than 250 years later, you can still get your hands on gin bearing his name. A loving tribute to the founder of what we know now as G&J Distillers, Thomas Dakin is a brand inspired by rich heritage, made with modern palates in mind.

While its sole product, Thomas Dakin Manchester Gin, is currently made by G&J Distillers, plans have been mooted to construct a micro-distillery in the heart of Manchester city centre.

It took 12 months for master distiller Joanne Moore to develop the signature Thomas Dakin recipe. Being a traditional juniper-led gin, the brand took inspiration with its botanical selection from the era of the man himself, featuring a blend of native British ingredients and the kind of exotic spices that became so prevalent in the burgeoning port cities of the time.

After it is handcrafted in a copper pot still, Thomas Dakin Manchester Gin, is bottled in bespoke, square bottles, with heavily embossed glass, traditional text and colouring that are also evidently a throwback to this time.
