Before 2005, Pennsylvania was bereft of craft distillers, and had been since Prohibition. A sad state of affairs, we’re sure you agree. However, that all changed when Andrew Auwerda and Timothy Yarnall founded Philadelphia Distilling. Since then, they’ve gone on to launch a selection of historically-inspired spirits (the likes of Bluecoat Gin and Vieux Carré Absinthe Supérieure), as well as some very American-style tipples (the likes of The Bay Seasoned Vodka and XXX Shine). To make their craft spirits, they’re armed with hand-hammered Forsyths copper pot stills and wooden fermentation vessels from Hall-Woodford (a Philadelphia-based family business) - excellent tools for the job, we reckon!
