Founded in 1870, Hobbs of Henley has been a cornerstone of the town's boating heritage for over 150 years. Harry Hobbs, its founder, was known for his love of homemade gin, often seen punting on the Thames with a flask of his distilled spirit in hand.
This tradition inspired the modern-day Hobbs descendants, Jonnie and Suzy Hobbs, to create their own gin. In 2017, marking the company's 150th anniversary, they launched Mr Hobbs Gin. With a primary focus on local botanicals, the gin reflects both Henley's and the Hobbs family's rich heritage.
Beyond the original gin, the portfolio expanded to include two fruit-flavoured gin liqueurs and the special Mr Hobbs 150, a classic London Dry Gin. Each spirit is an ode to the legacy of boating and distillation that Harry Hobbs began so many years ago.
Today, the Hobbs of Henley brand remains a staple on the Thames, boasting a fleet of over 60 boats and a collection of gins that capture the essence of Henley's illustrious history.
