Marie Brizard

Marie Brizard is a French liqueur and syrup house founded in Bordeaux in 1755 by Marie Brizard and Jean-Baptiste Roger. Any good bartender will be aware of products like Marie Brizard Triple Sec, Marie Brizard Menthe Verte, and Marie Brizard Cassis De Dijon.

The core range covers a multitude of liqueurs, syrups and cocktail ingredients, with Anisette as the historic starting point and fruit, herb, nut and spice flavours filling out the modern portfolio. The brand’s relevance is practical as much as historical, with a portfolio built for a variety of cocktails, desserts and mixed drinks, giving bartenders consistent a wheel of flavour to wield, including blackberry, apricot, elderflower, cacao, mint, triple sec, grenadine and plenty more.

Marie Brizard herself was a rare figure in 18th century drinks: a woman founding and running a spirits business. Her original Anisette recipe used a blend of plants and spices, and became successful enough to be served at Versailles. Today, her liqueur house stands, with a heritage and back bar footprint that has lasted because flavour will always come first.
