It was in 2002 that Mark and Jon Geary and David “Robbo” Robertson, previously Master Distiller for Macallan, set about creating a new brand in the whisky market. They wanted to create a product that was accessible to the uninitiated. Their bottlings, mostly vatted malts, were all given offbeat, affable names, such as ‘The Rich Spicy One’ and ‘The Smokey Peaty One’.
One example from their range, The Smooth Sweeter One, even included a large proportion of Irish Whiskey, added for its lighter style, though under new regulations Irish and Scottish whisky can no longer be blended together. Woefully, their dreams were short-lived for the company shut down recently. The range is very rare today.
