The Feckin Drinks Co. range is produced at the Echlinville Distillery in Kircubbin, and in 2014 was granted the first licence to distil spirits in Northern Ireland in more than 130 years. Feckin first hit the spirits scene in 2005 with the launch of its Irish whiskey. The idea was to counteract all the serious branding that surrounds the whisk(e)y scene with a great helping of humour.
Feckin takes its name from a few different inspirations; of course, the slang curse we hear in Father Ted, as well as the Irish verb ‘feck', which, would you believe, means to steal, throw or leave in a hurry. It is also the name of an old Irish saint, St Fechin, who had supernatural healing abilities. Unfortunately, he wasn't willing to use those gifts to save himself and he died from the yellow plague in 684AD.
Alongside the well known Feckin Unbelievable Irish Whiskey, there is also Feckin Gin and Feckin Vodkas. We hope to see more great things from this tongue in cheek company.
